Lover's Knot Quilt (1987)
1987 Twin Size Extra Long/ 54W x 94L
Pattern: Lover's Knot
One of my very first quilts, it is my all-time favorite! It was super warm, and became mega warm as the result of a recent restoration. Made in 1987, it was assembled on the machine I learned to sew on - my mom’s 1971 Bernina Record. I still have the machine and it still works. The quilt top was made in a single day thanks to Eleanor Burns’ ingenious book series “Quilt in a Day”. This quilt almost dates itself - the fabric colors reveal its age with the pinks and blues popular in the 1980’s. In 2021, I restored the quilt, including a new back, batting, and binding. The restoration kept the look and feel of the old quilt, including its octagonal shape, while infusing new life with the upgrades. Special thanks to all the quilters who weighed in with ideas and suggestions, and helped me locate fabric that blended well with a 30+ year-old quilt.
